My nephew Henry, 12 years old, and a burgeoning lacrosse goalie, has sported a mullet for close to three years. About two years ago I began offering Henry $50 if he would get it cut and his response time and again was "no way". Well, being a persistent uncle and one who can barely tolerate an umkempt coif changed the stakes a bit during this visit.
I asked Henry one night so "I will give you $50 to cut your hair" and the same response from Henry was "no way" and I responded "so, what if I sweeten the deal? How about $100 and I cut it for you?" Well............for a 12 year old with no steady source of revenue a $100 bones is big time so he thought about it overnight, intimated to his mom that he may take the deal, and the next day said "Okay, I will take the deal. When do we do it?'
Of course we needed an audience for this so I told Henry we will wait until after dinner when everyone is around so we can document the moment!!
Before Front
Before Back
After dinner we took out the Do' kit complete with scissors, clippers, and apron and we were ready. What qualifies me to cut his hair one may ask? Well, I have had mine cut about 1000 times so I guess that is good enough in my family!!
Slicin' n Dicin'
The clippers were turned on and the scissors in hand I had at it with my sister watching closely so I did not injure her son nor make him look like a dufus and subject to ridicule amongst his friends. Michael held the video camera and sister kate took the pictures with brother Will cheering us on and after about 15 minutes of my scissorhands artwork Henry Young Buck looked like a whole new little boy. The first thing Henry said "where is my Benjamin?"
